In Express Entry System for Canada Immigration, a sibling is a brother or sister related to you by –
- Blood, which means biological brother/sister or half-brother/sister
- Adoption, a brother or sister adopted by parents
- Marriage, which includes your step brother or step sister as they are not related by blood or adoption but your parents are married or are in a common-law relationship
The relation expressed must be valid on the date of filing the Express Entry profile and while
submitting the application for permanent residence in Canada.
You are eligible for certain points for having a sibling living in Canada, provided he/she is –
- 18 years of age and above
- A permanent resident or citizen of Canada
The condition is applicable to the brother or sister of your spouse or common-law partner who is
accompanying you to Canada
